SUMNER CROQUET CLUB.
As nret Saturday is Anzac Day, the Sumner Crcquet Club held its dosing day yesterday afternoon, when there was a largo attendance. The greens wero in good order, snd many pleasant games wero played during the afternoon. After tea the prize* for :he year were distributed by the president, Mr \\'. G. Black. Mr Black presented his rose bowl to Mrs- W. D. Bate-, tho winner in the handicap junior competition. In doing so he heartily congratulated her and expressed the hope that in the years lo come, it would change hands frequently. Mis J. A. Booth, one of the executive, said that the members could not allow the seaeou to clcec without expressing their deep appreciation of the great interest tsJcen in the welfare of the club by the capUin, Mrs W. H. Brown, and the vicecr.ptain, Mrs I. Wilson. Those present, expressed their concurrence with these, sentiments with musical honour* and cheers. The following is the prize list:—Slater Cup, Mr? E. A. Johnson: president's ro*e bowl, Mts H. D. Bates; ladder (Mrs Isoic Wilson's prize). Mrs F. Glackin; J UD ' or doubles (Mrs Hudson-Brown's prise), Mrs Chambers and Mrs Booth; senior button and Mrs Isaac Wilson's prize. Mrs Lee; junior button and Mrs Hudson-Brown's prize, Mrs Osier. A presentation was made by the member!, of the club tx> Mv Fenton as a. token of recognition oi the splendid condition ui which he had kept the lawns dunnsr the Tear. Mr Fenlon mutably responded.
