NEW BRIGHTON NOTES.
•—« Tides. It will be high tide on the beach today at 4.48 p.m., and in the river at 3.14 p.m., and to-morrow at 5.35 pan. and 7.4 p.m. respectively, and on Sunday at 6.23 pjn. and 7.51 p.m. respectively. School Committee. The final meeting of the New Brighton School Committee was held on Wednesday evening. Present: Mr E. "Ward (chairman), the Rev. C. W. I. MacI laverty, Mrs A. M. Campbell, Messrs A. E. La wry. J. AY. Buxton. Thomas Robins, and the secretary (Mr 11. A. Glasson). Correspondence was received from the Board stating that a path would be formed at the South Brighton School and the flooding at the boilerhouse would receive attention. Regret was expressed that Mr \Ynrd was not a candidate for re-election. He has been a member of the committee for sixteen years, acting as secretary for nine years and chairman for six, and never missing a meeting. The following nominations for the new committee have been received:— Bev. 0. W. I. Maclaverty Rev. F. T. Read, Mrs Bellamy, Mrs Moses, Messrs J. Buxton, T. Robins, H. Robinson, E. A. Langford, A. E. L'awry, P. Kelson, and M Orsborn. Euchre Party. A very enjoyable euchre evening was held.in the Bridge street Hall on Wednesday. The prize-winners were:— Ladies: Mrs Grammer 1, Mrs Jacobsen 2. Gentlemen: Mr Jacobsen 1, Mr McMillan 2. Mrs Rogers and Mr D. McClintock were awarded the consolation prizes. The Churches. There will be a celebration of Holy Communion at 8 a.m. at the Beach Church oa Sunday, Matins at 11 a.m., and service of Evensong at 7 p.m. The vicar, the Rev. C. W. I. Maclaverty, will officiate. Anniversary services will be conducted at the Methodist Church on Sunday at 11 by Ensign Nealc, S.A., and at 6.30 by the Rev. L. B. Ncale. There will be special anthems by enlarged choir. North Beach School, G. 30, Mr A. Kent. At the morniug service on Sunday, at the Presbyterian Church, the Rev. J. S. Young will take for the subject of his discourse "The Spirit of Anzac," and for the. evening service "Lessons From R33, Adrift and Triumphant." Miss Lightbody will act as soloist. Anzac Day. The ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the Soldiers' Memorial takes place to-morrow at 10.30 a.m. The local Territorials, Fire Brigade, and Municipal Band will take part. Unfortunately, the Senior Cadet Company, owing to the epidemic, restrictions, will not be present.
