The Chancery Court is being asked to interpret the will of Marie Corclli, the famous novelist, whom counsel described as an adopted child of unknown origin. Sho left no known next-of-kin.

The first question to bo decidod is whether Bertha Vyvcr, of Stratford, a lifelong friend of the novelist, is entitled to £IO,OOO deposited with the Bank of Scotland. It is admitted that she is entitled to everything which Mario Corel li possessed during Miss "Vyver's lifetime, but the AttorneyGeneral, on behalf of tho Crown, opposes any bequest operating after the death of tho tenant for life, on the ground that Miss Corclli was- heiress. There is also the question of how royaltics on Miss Corclli's books are to be treated.

The hearing of the case was adjourned.
