Euchre Olub. Tho opening night of the Lyltelton Euchre Club was held in the Oddfellows' Hall on Saturday last, when there was a. satisfactory attendance. The prizes of two quarter tons of cool and two 50's of flour wcro all won by local residents, after some exciting eames. The second nipht's play for similar prizes will be held to-night. Municipal Election. Nominations for the Mayoral and Council election closed yesterday. There are four candidates for the Mayoralty, Messrs AV. T. Foster, W. T. Lester, F. G. Norton and F. E. Sutton. There are eleven candidates for the Council, two in excess of +llO number required. Thev are: Messrs AV. D. Gower, D. Grubb, T. Hom'wtalk, A. McDonald, M. J. Miller, G. S. Morris AV. H. ,Newton, AV„ AV. Toy, AV. AVales, 'j. K. Webb, and G. A. V. Whitford. The poll will take place on AVednosday between 9 a.m. i.nd 7 p.m., and tho polling places are the Colonists' Hall, Oxford street, and Smith's, Ltd., shop, Norwich quav. Harbour Light Theatre. There was nearly a full house at tho Harbour Light Theatre last evening, when "Tho Kentucky Four" appeared in solos, duets, and quartettes. Mdme Davina, Morrison, a coloratura, soprano with a very pleasing- voice, eang "I Passed by Your Window" and as an encore "Comin' Thro' ■the Rye." Mr Huntley S;pencer, a lyric tenor, was well leceived in "Lorraine" and "Adieu Marie." Miss Marjorie Ahvynnc, contralto, found much favour 'with her items, and was equally well received in her duets with Mr Harry Penn. To the latter fell the duty of providing the comedy relief, a task in which he acquitted himself most successfully. His monologues, especially these in which topical hits were made, provoked much merriment. The concerted numbers by the company, which included quartettes and humorous items, were equally gratifying to the audience. In the second part of the programme the picture "Uncle Tom's Cabin" was screened and was accompanied by tho sin?ing by "The Kentucky Four" of appropriate nlmit'lion melodies and hymns, cf which "Way Down Upon the Swanee River,'' 1 "Kentucky Home" and "Si»al Awnv" were perhaps the best. Miss MarW Henry, accompanist, carried out her duties in a manner which left nothing to he desired.
