RELIGION AND POLITICS.
TO THE BMTOa OP "THE PBI89." gir,—Your sub-leader on the deliberations at the Presbyterian Church Congress of certain subjects is well merited, and is I feel sure, appreciated and supported by thousands of the readers ol' your well circidated paper. Surely no reasonable and evenly-bal-anced reader of your paper (or of any other paper) will for one moment agree that politics should: invade the sacred courtß of religion, or that the churches should control "politics, for- every nation that has permitted this state of affairs has been irretrievably crippled, viz., Rome, Greece, Spain and others. The Church can easily gather its lost , ones again into its fold where its ministers preach and apply the lessons left by the Saviour for its mission and-application, viz., Fear God, Love Thy Neighbour as Thyself.—Yours, etc., COUNTRY REARER.
