CENTRAL MUNICIPAL YARD.
REMOVAL TO MOORHOUSE AVENUE. The City Council's central yard at the corner of Manchester and Gloucester streets, which for many years has been under the control of the Works Committee of the Council, is to be transferred to the control of the Electricity Department and the operations of the Works Committee, less those connected with the destructor, will in the future be carried on in the new yard to l>e established in Moorhouse avenue. A large portion of the present central yard is used foe the stabling of alwut sixty horses, but new stables are to be built in the Moorhouse avenue yard, and the horses will be taken there, g-ether with other plant and equipment, required by the department. The Council agreed to the transfer of the site of the present central yards from tlio Works Department to the Electricity Department on a valuation of £9600. The Electricity Department will utilise the site for the erection of new buildings for store rooms and garaging purposes.
