At a meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, held tonight, the question whether track competition was harmful to women, and whether events for women should bo included in the championship programme came up for consideration. The chairman said that when the subieet was under discussion before it was decided to obtain the opinion of the British Medical Association as to whether such athletics were harmful or not to women. The reply was that while favouring all reasonable at o exercises for women, the Association was of that competition for them was harmful. After discussion, it was decided .refer this medical opinion to the Centres, and to ask them whether thej favoured women's events being J ncl "°- cd on the championship programme, and, if so, whether they should count for the Shield.
