) A patch of onions on the farm of Mr J. L. Haycock, near Toronto, Canada, measures two : ninths of an acre and yielded 115 bushels, the equivalent of nearly 520 bushels an acre. Mr Haycock has devoted considerable time to the selection and propagation of this onion, which he calls the Progressive. It has been developed from a single onion which he reserved for seed 13 years ago. A lot of 40, picked for exhition by a market gardener from another plot near Toronto, weighed 50 pounds.
