MALVERN ELECTRIC POWER BOARD.

• * The Malvern Electric Power Board met last week, Mr G. H. Judd presiding. The Works Committee reported that acting on the Board's authority, they had accepted tenders for bare copper wire from Turnbull and Jones at £3500 12s; for triple braided copper cable from Lawrence and Hanson at £227; and for insulated cable from Richardson, McCa.be, Ltd., at £289 ISs. This w.as. approved. .

The Board accepted tenders from Tolley and Son, and the National Electrical and Enginearing ■ Co. for low tension and 6600 volt insulators; from P. and D. Duncan and Xiven.and Co. for ironwork; and from Riley and Co.'for transformers. Mr. T.. Westwoof's tsr.der for sawing- cross arms in Muihollanu s plantation was also cccepted. The' Board received advice that the debentures were being prepared and would be ready' in a few days. Negotiations are heinj continued with the Crown Lands Department to acquire a section near the railway at Darfleld so that a siding may be laid to it for convenience in har.dliiig material.

'The Waddirgton School Committee wrote that, they were favourably considering the installation of electrio light ill the school and the headmaster's house, and the P. and T. Department .gave notice that they would apply for current'for tlio linesman's house and the new post office at Dariield.' The St. Ambrose Church Trustees,. Sheffield, applied to have th« church and the vicarage connected'to one meter, as the irrigular use of lighting in the'ihurch made it inadvisable to -go to'the expense, if a separate .meter had" to b» installed. This "was approved as tho church -was .within easy access of the vicarage. ' ■ The Railway Department wrote that the Railway' Station was-on a list forwarded to the -General Manager for .consideration regarding lighting. The Progress League sent a leport protesting against the Government of i pooling interest charges on electrical undertakings, and it was agreed to -support the League on this matter.
