ST. ALBANS PARK.
CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUND.
A SUCCESSFUL FETE. /n introducing the Mayor (Mr J. A. Flesher) on Saturday afternoon to the large crowd that attended the fete and carnival on the St. Albans Park for the purpose of raising funds for the equipment of a children's playground or a park, Mr J. B. Dalley. chairman of the executive of the fete, remarked that they were hopeful of being in a position to ask the City Council to fulfil its promise to subsidise the amount raised by 10s in the £, and that they hoped to raise something like £IOOO. The Mayor, in his address prior to declaring the fete open, after congratulating all concerned upon the success of the fete, remarked that he did not think that the City Council had bargained for being called upon to find £SOO in subsidy.
