AKAROA BOATING CLUB. A meeting of tho executive of the Akaroa. Boating Club was held on Friday evening, the president, Mr Geo. Armstrong, in tho chair. The main business of tho meeting, as tho chairman explained, wag to consider ways and moans of relieving the financial position of the club. A comparatively small membership, meagre regatta winnings since tho war, and a mortgage on the boathouse had prevented the club*" from reaching the enviable position it had held in pre-war <l-iya. Something would have to be done to euso tho burden placed upon the executive. After somo discussion it was unanimously resolved to hold a, carnival at Easter next year, and preliminary arrangements veto mids to ensure tho hearty co-opera'.iou of th» various sub-committees that were suggested. It was stated tlmt the club had, during the last twenty yoar3, appealed to tho public for support on only two occasions, and when all tho circumstances were considered, there was certainly no need for apology in respect to the making of another The 1 programme of the liedcliffs Gala. Eeghttft was received, and tho Kccing Committee was empowered to deal with the question of Akaroa'B representation there Correspondence from the Minister of Cmtows and Mr Jas. JlcComb3. M.P., stated that the rebate of duty on tho club'B two racing boat 3 imported from Melbourne would bo paid as soon as certain formalities were j complied with. ' Satisfaction was expressed at. the success of the efforts to induce the local P.egatta Club to reviee its programme for New Scar's Day regatta, so as to include pair-oar events. YACHT RACES. The following are the results of yacht racing at I!odditis on Saturday afternoon: B ClttM —Ariti (ecr) 1, Kiwi (18min) '2, Naomi (lomin) 3. C Class—Fidget (lmin) 1, Brownie fcfr) 2. Eureka capßized during tho race. AVON ROWING CLUB. The final of the Avon Rowing Club's new members' race was rowed on Saturday afternoon. and resulted in a win for Nicholas and Baker, who defeated Dawson and Grcagh by », length.
