SUCCESSFUL DEMONSTRATION. " (fbess association teleqru».) ROTORUA, November 21. Last night through the co-operation of Sir Edwin Mitcrhelson, Mr McKone- . (manager of the National Timber Co. at Ngongotaha), and Messrs Mackintosh Ellis, and H. Goudie (Forest Service), a demonstration, which wae attended by a large number of sawmill managers, wis given of the Cheney (West Australian) spark nullifier. The device was attached to a locomotive and tested ■with a loaded train on heavy gradients of 1 in IS. Remarkable results were achieved. The locomotive was fired entirely with 6cantling waste. With the nullifier on, on the steepest gradient no sparks were emitted, but when oil the bush was deluged \rith fire. The capacity to raise steam was not adversely affected. Very general satisfaction with the device was expressed by the mill experts.
