The tea-room was in charge of Mesdames Tinnnins and Gibb, and Miss Bell. The salo was continued I.lst evening, when an enjoyable programme of music was -supplied by the South Canterbury Orchestra.

WOODBURY. The School Committee hold a special meeting 011 Wednesday evening to consider ways of raising money to buy prizes, and also to make preliminary arrangements for the school picnic. The following members were present: —Messrs -J. Tifield (chairman), P. Fifield (secretary), F. P. Wooding, J. Rice, and the headmaster. After some discussion it was decided to issue subscription lists, and residents will bo called upon shortly and asked to contribute towards tiie prizo and picnic fund. It is hoped for a hearty response, so that each child in the school miglit receive a book, and also that there might be sufficient money to give the children a good picnic. This is to be held, at the Waihi Gorge on, Fri* day, December 19th, and parents and friends are invited to be present. The Domain Board has just had the tennis courts improved and top-dress-ed, aud they -will be ready for use again in about a fortnight's time. The rainfall recorded this week amounts to 02 points, and farmers are now hoping for a spell of warm, dry weather, as the crops are beginning to lie on account of the abundant rain. Shearing operations, too, have been greatly hindered.
