BRITISH M.P. ON ELECTRICITY.
A SIGNIFICANT UTTERANCE,
'' Trade follows electrical mains more than ,it follows the British Flag."—Mr Hardie, M.P. This well-known member of the_ British Parliament paid this striking tribute, to the national and commercial importance of electrical development. His statement indicates the extent to which electricity is recognised as . a factor in the development of British industrial centres with a corresponding increase in trade. Since the application of electricity to industries, production in the Mother. Country has gone ahead by leaps and bounds. That our comparatively young city will be faced by the same ever-increas-ing demand for electrical power in the near future is admitted by all. It is in the hands of the ratepayers to make rapid developments possible, with its attendant benefits both domestic _ and industrial. All that is needed is . a strong pronouncement in favour of tlie proposed loan at the poll which is to be held on December 4th. 6
