WHAT IS AN ETCHING?
;— Although perhaps the majority of informed people of the present day know, something about an etching, they do not know, exactly what it is nor do they understand how it is done. However, an excellent opportunity is now afforded those who axe desirous of becoming acquainted with the technique of this highly interesting development in the graphic arts. A unique and comprehensive display has been arranged in the window and gallery of H. S'isher and.i Son, High street, including not only varied and masterly examples of the etcher's art, but also the.tools, plates, and other articles belonging to the equipment of : the craftsman.. A printed card in the window explains concisely and clearly the details of the whole process. Work by the following well-known artists is on view: Lea hankey, Blainpied.. Nevison, Gaskell, and Baskett, and also some charming prints by Richard Wallwork, the well-known local artist.
Worthy of particular note is "Chelsea lteach," by Nevison, "Maiaon; Jeanne d'Arc, Rouen," by Renison, arid three typical examples of Blainpied's fine work. . Etchings to suit every pocket are exhibited, and a cordial, ; invitation •is extended by Mr Fisher to all interested- to visit the splendid collection on view in liis galleries- —-G
