Later ■oh Mr. Salt, gave notice of motion to rescind the resolution in favour of the "Haunted Whare""site for an hostel. . . _ ,
A motion. " That the Park; be regarded, as an; absolute sanctuary for New- Zealand flora and fauna, " was lost by six to five," and an amendment, on the/casting, vote,of tho.. ; ehairrnan, "that nothing should be introduced into the Park ; without. a resolution by the Board,", was carried. . . ' It was stated. that the Board still requested further contributions from local bodies and societies, to provide an.hostel. .' ;...•'.;; . .'
There are now motor roads to within half a mile of the "Haunted Whare" and the two hot baths.at Whakapapa.
