CANTERBURY WOMEN'S CLUB.
Despite the bad weather, the annual meeting of the Canterbury Women's Club, held in the club rooms on "Wednesday night, was very largely attended. Much interest was shown in the various activities in which members have engaged during the past year. The president, Mrs H. Holland, who occupied the chair, read the annual report and balance-sheet, which were adopted, and the reports of the Musical, Library, Bridge, Play-reading, Garden, Five Hundred, and Stocking Leagues were read by their respective directors. The election of officers for the ensuing year was then proceeded with, Mrs Wagstaff and Miss Sinclair being appointed scrutineers to open and count the ballot papers. The result was as follows:—President, Mrs Holland (reelected unopposed); vice-presidents, Mrs H. T. J. Thackcr and Miss M. O. Stoddart (both re-elected unopposed); committee, Mrs A. S. Adams, Miss Orchard, Mrs S. C. Owen, Mrs J. E. Enssell, Mrs B. T. Tosswill, and Mrs H. Wyatt; hon. treasurer, Miss M. Spence. A resolutipn of sympathy with the secretary, Miss Baine, in her severe illness, was carried, ■with many expressions Of appreciation of her work and regret at her enforced absence. Votes of thanks to the officers of the past year and to others who had assisted the club concluded the meeting.
