Tho Gisborne Harbour Board has received word that the dredgo Kcrnt, purchased from the Commonwealth Government, left Melbourne on Wednesday afternoon for Auckland.

Tho death occurrod at Kiitbomba, Sydney, last wcok, of" Mr Arfgus Cameron McMastor, well known in shipping circles "throughout Australia and New. Zealand. Mr McMastor was born at Dumbarton in 1874, and in 1897 joined the Union Steam Ship Co. Ho first visited New Zealand when ho camo out as a junior officer on tho Waiiaro. Ho later returned tn England, and camo to New Zealand again bs second engineer of the Manuka. In 1908 be waa promoted to obief engineer, arid served in 'this capacity in a number of the Union Co.'s vessels. The late Mr MeMaster, who was a brother of Mr J. C. MeMaster, of Auckland, is eurvivod by a widow and three children living at Sydney.

THE STORM. Tho Canterbury Shipping Company has received » cablo from its superintendent engineer, Mr O. Kerr, stating that tho company's new steamer, Storm, passed through the Panama Canul on November 4th, "all well." Tho cabel added that it was expected to reach Lyttolton about December 6th.
