MARAROA DELAYED.

BREAKDOWN IN ENGINE-ROOM. The ferry steamer Mararoa did not arrive at Lyttelton until 12.20 p.m. yesterday. Up till 2 a.m. 6he had made good time on the trip, but a breakdown in the engine-room necessitated her being hove-to for 2£ hours while repairs were effected. By the time she was ready to resume, a strong southerly gale had sprung up and this further delayed her. The Dunedin express was held until the arrival of the ferry train, and left Christchurch at 1.5 p.m., three-quarters of an hour behind schedule.
