LOCAL AND GENERAL. Quinnat Salmon. The Marine Department intends to net quinnat salmon in the southern rivers for sale to the public. St. John Ambulance. The third Australian and New Zealand Philatelic Exhibition and Congress was opened at the Art Gallery yesterday.—Page 11. BRITISH AND FOREIGN. Wembley. While the announcement is not 'official, the Duke of Devonshire has said definitely that the Empire Exhibition will reopen next year. Mr Amery says the Government is prepared to offer further financial aid to make 1925 the winning half of the Exhibition's life. All Blacks Cleared. Competent critics who watched last Saturday's game wholly exonerate the All Blacks from earlier allegations as to their methods of play. H.O.L. In general references to the high cost of living at Home, British newspapers call attention to the dearnesa of colonial meat. Mr E. S. Forsyth, manager in London for the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board, defends that organisation against the charge of controlling the market. Kulsian Letter. Cabinet is accepting the Zinovief? letter as genuine, and will support Mr Mac Donald's Note demanding the cessation of propaganda. Irish Boundary. Two new difficulties confront the Boundary Commission, whose earlier meetings bore no fruit. Airship Routes. It is reported that a British airship is shortly to make a tost flight to India. Winter Comes. Winter: descended upon the United States in a sudden cold snap, in which there were six deaths from exposure in New York. Cricket. Wanting 253 runs in tho second innings to win, Victoria opened well against the Englishmen. One wicket is down for 111.
