ST. JOHN AMBULANCE.
ADDRESS PRESENTED TO LORD JELLICOE. («rscu.L TO "ran psass.") WELLINGTON, November IS. An illuminated address was presented to the Governor-General to-day by the members of tho St. John Ambulance Association. The presentation was made hy Sir TX. Heaton Rhodes, a director of the Association. In accepting tho address his Excellency commented on the humane work carried out by the Association, and thanked members for their gift and g oo d wishes. Following is the text of tlio address: "To his Excellency the Eight Honourable John Eushworth, Viscount Jellicoe of Seapa, Admiral of the Fleet, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Member of the Order of Merit, Knight Grand Cross of the Eoyal Victorian Order, GovernorGeneral and Commander-in-Chief in and over his Majesty's Dominion of New Zealand and its dependencies, President-in-Chief of the New Zealand branch of the St. John Ambulance Association and of the St. John Ambulance Brigade Overseas (being portions of the ambulance department of the Grand Priory of the Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem in England).
"May it please your Excellency, "On the eve of your departure for the Homeland, we, who represent the members and associates of the Order of St. John and its several departments in New Zealand, desire to thank you and her Excellency the Viscountess Jellicoc for the deep interest that your Excellencies have taken in our historic organisation. Wo have been specially privileged since the establishment of hospitaler work here in 1885, in serving under the chief representative of our Sovereigns, thus constituting an unbroken chain of continuity for nearly forty years. It is very gratifying to our members, associates, aud departmental workers to realise that your Excellency has so sympathetically promoted the aims of the Order of St. John, which created the British Ecd Cross and which sent forth the skilled members of the St. John Ambulance Brigade in their thousands, corde uno et anima una, as an integral part of the B.A.M.C. to tend the wounded on the field of battle. Wo are also grateful to her Excellency as patroness of the District Nursing Guild of St. John for tho interest manifested in the work of our district nurses, whose ministrations for the mitigation of human suffering in the homes of the sick poor are known far and wide. Trusting that your Excellencies may long be spared to work for tho Empire and the White and Eed Crosses, and wishing your Excellencies, and the members of your family every happiness, Ave have the honour to be:
