GISBORNE HARBOUR. (fuss assocutios ncLKaatx.) GISBOBNE, November 18. The Gisborno Harbour Board has accepted tho tender of Goodman (£10,260) for the construction of the railway bridge in connexion with tno new harbour works, OPUA AGROUND. SAFELY REFLOATED. (PMSB ISIOCUTIOS TILKMUM.) The Tiloki, which passed Capo Farewell this morning, reports sighting the Opua, agcound five miles cast of Farewell light Assistance was not accepted. Captain Vickerman of the Titoki, is of the opinion that the Opua will float off with the rising tide. t-i t Jjater. Farewell Spit reports that the weather is still hazy, though fo a certain extent clear vision was obtained, but thero was no sign of tho Opua. A vessel passed tho Spit at 12.30 bound west. This is believed to bo the Opua, which apparently floated off on the rising tide.
A later message to Messrs Eeese Bros., agents for the Opua Shipping Company, states that the Opua was sighted from Cape Farewell Lighthouse, going west. Evidently no difficulty was experienced in re-floating her. Captain McKenzie is in command of the vessel, which carries a crew of sixteen. Farewell Spit, where the Opua. touched, has been the scene of many etrandingo, but ia nearly case tho teasels }j aTo refloated, little' tho w/>rso for their experience. Instances are the Monowai, tho Mapourika and the Kurow. The latter waa ashore for sis weeks before she was refloated.
- , THE H. K. HALL. Some information was given by Mr H. J. C. George, of Auckland, concerning the five-masted schooner H. K. Hall, which, it was reported some weeks ago, had been purchased by ,Ncw Zealand buyers subject to inspection. Mr George has been in Sydney negotiating over the sale for the paet threo months, and returned to .Auckland by tho Manuka last week. Although the actual sale has not y« been confirmed, tho schooner haa been re-com-missioned and is now under tho management of Captain G. H. George, brother of Mr H. J. C: George. Sho loaded about 850 tons of Australian hardwood at Sydney, and sailed last week for Port Stephens to complete her cargo. She is expected to- tak* her departure for New Zealand towards, the end of the present month. A portion of Wcarao will be unloaded at New Plymouth, ian-lßland trade. PORT OF TIMARU.
