Acceptances for the South Canterbury Jockey Club's Meeting arc due today at S p.m. Nominations for the Methvcn Eacing Club's Annual Meeting close to-morrow at 8. p.m. Besides galloping events, there arc two trotting races on the programme. Nominations for the Woodvillc District Jockey Club's Summer Meeting close to-morrow. - Acceptances for the "Winton Jockey Club's Annual Meeting are due tomorrow. Acceptances for the Feilding Joekey Club's Spring Meeting are due at S.uO p.m. on Friday, and at the same time final payments for the Nineteenth Feilding Stakes and first forfeits for the Oroua .Stakes are also due. Acceptances for the Takapuna Jockey Club's Spring Meeting are due on Friday. Tutankhamen, who was recently sold by Mr W. J. Jorgensen to a Hawke's Bay owner, is now a member of J. Scents's team at Greenmeadows. S. Waddell has gone on a short holiday to Otago, and in the meantime Gold Light and others which competed at Eiecarton will be under the care of F. Waddell.

Nigger Minstrel was examined by a veterinary surgeon at Hastings last week, and it is considered likely that the brilliant All Black colt may have seen the last of the racecourse. He is to be given a little more time before a final decision is made as to his future programme-.

Hori and the young horses in J. George's stable are now being prepared by his son E. George. Lochson is to be put into work again shortly. The Grand National Hurdles winner seems to have completely recovered from the injury he met with during the course of the C.J.C. Grand National Meeting. Kareao is reported to have changed hands, and will carry Mr T. Cameron's colours at the Christmas Meetings on the West Coast. \ Killocra's lameness after winning at Carterton could not have been serious, for his name figures amongst the nominations for events at the Feilding J.C.'s Spring Meeting. The reported sale of Merry Singer to a Masterton sportsman is incorrect, and the Merry Moment gelding will continue to carry Mr C. F. Vallanee's'colours when racing. King's Guard, owned and trained by Mr R. Hannon, is considered a, more than useful hack. King's Guard is by the English horse Quia, Abbey from Gipsy Lass. After his good showing behind Killocra a"t .Carterton, Santonio will have plenty of supporters in the Pohangina Handicap at Ashhurst to-day.

The veteran trainer A. McKenzie, who has been in charge of Korke's Drift at Winton, suffered a broken leg a few days ago. He was riding a young horse, which took fright when, a pair of wild ducks flew, out from a nearby swamp and tlirew its rider. McKenzie is now an ' inmate of a private hospital at Winton.

I The publication of the '"Weekly Press and Referee" is always eager-iy awaited by readers, and this week there is likely to- be a bigger demand than ever for this popular sporting paper. The racing carnival at Eiecarton attracted attention last week from all parts of New Zealand, and readers will find in the pages of the "Weekly Press and Referee" full details of the different events and interesting accounts of the racing by special reporters. Antisthenes, "Wayfarer, The Rook, and Spectator each • contribute columns of interest to every sportsman, and correspondents from all parts keep readers well posted on items of interest. In the trotting pages Searchlight deals at length with the New Zealand Metropolitan T.C.'s Spring Meeting and also discusses the prospects for the Forbury Park and Otahuhu Trotting Club Meetings, while Miles in an interesting article discusses the possibility of producing the"" Twominute Pacer. Altogether the paper maintains the very high standard set by the publishers and is a credit to those responsible for ite production.

Speaking at a valedictory social, at Greytowu on Saturday night, Mr Walter Armstrong, for a long number of years secretary of the South Wairarapa Trotting Club,' stated that in 1900 a horse won on which nothing was invested. He was given 10s to put on the horse, and took out a £1 ticket, but the totalisator official had omitted to register it, and he would not take tho dividend, which was subsequently handed over to the hospital.

O. E. Hooper will assist at Otahuhu with Linden and Audacious, and it is doubtful whether any of hia team will bo rasing at Forbury Park. The pacing gelding Loganwood has left G. S. Smith's stable, and in future will be trained by D. Withers. Mr H. Brinkman has readjusted the handicap of Great Hope from 84yds to 108 yds in the President's Handicap, ' while Lonamhor is on 12yds and not 24yds in the Dash Handicap at Forbury PnTk. Realm is an unlikely otarlor in the Presidents Handicap at Forbury Park. Neither Hal Junior nor Hustler will fulfil their engagements at Forbury Park. V. Alborn has decided to place Golden Devon on tho easy list, and the son of Great Audubon may not race until nest year. The grey pacing mare Hester has fonled a colt to Great Audubon and Lady Thelma a colt to Nelson Derby. Both mares will visit Real Guy this season. While under the care of J. J. Kenncrley Acron won £3945, Great Bingen JE3690, Peter Swift £1175, and Lightnin' JESOO, making a total of £9410.
