TWELVE BEST ROSES.
A MELBOURNE PLEBISCITE. The Melbourne "Argus" invited its readers thisi year to state which they considered the best twelve roses in cultivation. In announcing the result . the "Argus 5 ' said: Several letters ' have been received suggesting thatwhen another plebiscite is taken there should be a separate list for climbers. In the first twelve all but Golden Emblem, Sunny South, and Red Letter Day are obtainable as climbers. They also have the free-flowering habit of the bush varieties. Sunny South: aiid Red Letter Day are so vigorous that they could be used as pillar roses or for hedge-making. The voters number 538, and votes were recorded for 293 distinct varieties. _ Following is the final result of the voting:— First Twelve.
