SHIPPING NOTES. The Kahiia arrived from Timaru yesterday morning and loads to-day for Westport and Greymouth. The Wairau is due to-morrow from Blenheim and loads on. Monday for the return trip. The Wingatui is due to-morrow from Wellington to discharge Auckland cargo. She is to eail on Monday afternoon for Dunedin.
The Orepuki, due on Monday from Tarakoho, is to load for "Wellington, Westport and Greymouth.
The Cygnet is due back to-morrow and. is to be despatched on Monday night for Kaikoura, Motueka and Nelson. The Moeraki ia due from Melbourne, via Bluff and Dunedin, • on Thursday, and is to sail in the afternoon for Wellington, en route for Melbourne. The "Waikouaiti is due to-morrow from Timaru and docks on Monday for survey. She is Jater to load fcr Sydney. The "Wanaka is to leave Auokland to-day for Portland Island to load cement. She is due here, via Wellington, on Saturday The Canadian Challenger is due to-day from Dunedin to load for Boston, >ew YorJf and Montreal. Rarotonga. Altogether 5000 cases of fruit were' landed comprising oranges, bananas, and tomatoes The Ngakuta sailed on "Wednesday afternoon for Auckland, to put out the balance of the fruit, about 6000 cases, and a, small quantity of copra. The Union Company advises that the vessel will sail from .Auckland next week for the Cook Islands on her last trip this season. The Merchant Service Bill will be submitted to the Shipowners and Seamen's Union before presentation to the French Parliament.—Cable.
The action of Mr George Niccol, of Auckland, in acquiring two new cargo steamers for New Zealand while in England, has naturally been the cause of oome curiosity on the waterfront (states the "New Zealand Herald"). The first of these vessels belonged to the Admiralty, and was known a3 the Ant, but was renamed Rangitoto. She has a grosj tonnage of 400. The other steamer is the Herekino, of 600 tons, which Mr Aicool h*d built. Both vessels are on tueir way to New "Zealand.
