TAI TAPU ITEMS.

A meeting of ladies was held in the Town Hall, when Sister Clark addressed those present with the object of forming a class of instruction in Home Nursing. Mrs Suckling presided. After discussion, it was decided to form a class at Tai Tapu. The following were elected a committee of management: — President, Mrs Suckling; hon. secretary aud treasurer, Mrs T. O. Morgan; committee, Mesdames Brakes, J. H. Mackenzie, "Wills, Christian, and Miss Steinmetz.

The annual meeting of tho Tai Tapu Lawn Tennis Club was held in the library, when Mr G. Ward presided. The annual report stated that the season opened under favourable conditions. During tho year four new members were elected. Tho work of top-dressing the court had been delayed owing to rough weather conditions, and opening day would be fixed as soon as the court is in playing order. During the year a •committee consisting of Mesdames Suckling and Brake and Mr Walls had inaugurated euchre evenings, which had been generously supported by friends, and the funds of the club had been supplemented. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to them and to Mr H. Wheeler, who had assisted with prizes. The same gentleman had also promised a racquet for competition. It was decided to put the old court in order so that play could be commenced on that in the meantime. The balance-sheet showed a good credit balance. The report & and balance-sheet were adopted.
