LATE SPORTING.
After the Enfield Handicap at Addington yesterday,, an .enquiry was held by the Judicial Committee to consider the riding of B. Jarden .on Prince Derby, and that rider was cautioned.
D. Archer, the owner of Mangoutu, was fined £2 by the Judicial Committee at Addington yesterday for failing to apply--for permission to change his driver in the Dominion Handicap.- :
The difference in the form shown bv Le Todd in the Sockburn Handicap on Thursday as compared with the Middleton Handicap on Tuesday was enquired into by the Judicial Committee of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club, and the explanation given was-accepted. Realm, who met with an accident prior to the start of the last race at Addington yesterday, retired and did not go to the post. The Rules of Trotting do not permit the refund of investments on any horse after the totalisator has closed. The money invested on Eealm could, therefore, not be returned.
Although first favourites did not have such a successful run at Addington yesterday as on Thursday, they scored in three events, and the majority of- the winners were well backed, no doublefigurd dividend being paid during the day. W. Scobie, the jockey who was injured at Riccarton on Wednesday -when Cerberus fell in the Port Cooper Hurdles, was reported yesterday afternoon to be progianising slowly.
Messrs H. Matson and Company will hold a sale of horses at Tattersall's on Monday, commencing at 10 a.m. The catalogue comprises thoroughbreds trotters and pacers, hacks and ponies.'
