COMMISSION ECONOMISING. MOVING OUT OF HOTEL ASTORIA (BT CABLE —PRESS ASSOCIATION COPYHIGHT) (AUST&ALIAS AKD JT.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received November 13tli, 8.30 p.m.) PAEIS, November 12. The waning importance of the Reparations Commission since the adoption of the Dawes scheme is emphasised by the publication of a drastic scheme for retrenchment, to bo put into effect within the next two months, reducing expenditure by 50 per cent. The plans involvo evacuation of the palatial Hotel Astoria for comparatively modest offices, wholesale reduction of staff, and the abolition of salaries for the principal delegates, who henceforth will receive only retaining foes, and attendance and travelling expenses. Nevertheless, the total of economies thus affected is expected to be counterbalanced by expenditure on the multifarious new posts created under the Dawes plan.
