September SOtli, 1924, was 6174 (including Maoris), comprising a net gain of 4235 by natural increase and 2039 by immigration. Th© net gain both from natural increase and immigration was considerably greater than the net gains experienced in tho September quarter of 1923. During the September quarter of 1924 the population (including Maoris) of the North Island increateed by 4725 and that of the South Island hy 1445.
