DUPLICATION OF TUNNEL.
TO BE REVIEWED BY COMMISSION.
Mr P. B. Climie, organiser of the Canterbury Progress League, has received the following communication from the Minister of Bailways:— "Dear Sir, —I have to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 7th inst., forwarding copy of a resolution carried at a recent meeting of the executive of the Canterbury Progress League, congratulating the Government on' its decision to effect the duplication of the Lyttelton tunnel and carry out other improvements on the ! ChristchurehLyttelton railway. "With regard to the desire expressed by the League to obtain some indication as to the manner and particular order in whieh the various works will be carried ont, and when a commencement of operations is likely to be made. I have to remind you that in view of the fact that railway improvements and their order of priority have been included in the order of reference for the Boyml Commission at present in the Dominion, so definite announcement will be made in connexion with any of the various works until the Commission has made its report.
