A Horehore farmer recently purchased a six-roomed dwelling-hotise in Dargavillo for' renioval across the "Wairoa Eiver to his' farm, put it on two barges and towed it across by launch (says an exchange). At low tide the 'next morning an. attempt was made to put the barges- on the river bank. One barge tipped and the house slipped into the river where there was fairly deep w;ater. The building, hit'the launch, nearly swamping the vessel,; and tho ' launchman, Mr Alex. Smith, had. a .narrow escape from drowning. At high tide in the evening the house waß; pulled up the bank.
