KENNEL CLUB.
ANNUAL SHOW.
Splendid Cocker spaniels were a feature at the Canterbury Kennel Club's annual display benched in the permanent wooden building at the lA. and P. Association's ground yesterday. The New Zealand Kennel Club had allotted challenge certificates for the best of each sex in all breeds, making the show a championship one. The entries were practically the same as last year. There seems to hare b.een a revival of interest in black cockers, greyhounds, setters, and retrievers, all being well represented in numbers and quality. The toys were nothing to boast about, and Airedales, although, in good, numbers, might have been better. ' The best dog in the show, according to the judge, was J. Fox's Myth, a big racy brindlc greyhound, with a capital head ■ and galloping outline. The runner-up was by G. andF. E. Biltcliff's young Scottish terrier bitcli Nydfa 2\ada, the possessor of straight bone, coal black eyes, and a short body and typical hindquarters. j Jie best Fox Terrier dog was Shand and Dawson's Canterbury Brown Stout, a sound and showy dog. Speaking of the Cockers, the judge. Mr E. Wade, said they were probably the best show of that fancy ever benched in New Zealand. In the open dog class there were at least six fit to be shown anvwhere iu Australia or New Zealand, and other really good dogs had to go cardless. The Clumber Spaniels were a fine exhibit, and when they faced Mr Wade he had trouble in separating a, splendid old dog, Hcathmj nd Nap, from one of its progeny. He decided that youth would have to win, on account of its sound teeth and general activity. The judge of the working gun dogs, Mr H. T. Little, was enthusiastic about the Clumbers, sajing that Heathmynd Nap was the finest type of dog ever seen in the Dominion. The honorary secretary and treasurer, Mrs F. E. Biltcliff carried out her ardous duties most capably. The judges were: Bulldogs, Mr F. Hiclcinbottpm: Harriers, Mr Hallaway Hartley; Greyhounds, Mr T. 11. Reed; Working Sheep Bogs, Mr 11. !• Little; Working Gun Dogs, Mr A. Dawson; Toy Dogs, Miss Lindsay; all .other breeds, Mr N. Wade. The prize list i 3 as follows: greyhounds.
