. Mr 'II. Belshaw (Christchurch) is now at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, where he' is doing ' post graduate research in "Rural Credit; Its Relation to Agricultural Organisation and Welfare." He hopes to work for the Ph.D. degree., and expects to stay two years. As a University Extension lecturer he is interested in adult education, and hopes to make a' study of this before returning to New Zealand. .

Mr Thomas Ritchie (Christchurch) arrived a wdekago to 6tudy architecture at the Architectural Association. He will probably be in England for about two years.

Mr O. Borer, B.E. (Christchurch), who was Agent-in-Chaxge of the draining of the Tilbury Marshes, a scheme costing £350,000, has now accepted the offer from Messrs "Walter Jones and Sons to take charge of a. contracts to erect a reinforced concrete bridge across the river Boding. This is part of the Ministry of Transport's road <clbemes round London, and. the bridge will cost £96,000 to erect. Mr E. G. Ferrid'ay (of the staff of Canterbury College, who has been granted leave of absence to complete his studies for the Birmingham decree in engineering) began work in Birmingham, this week. He expects to return to New Zealand late nest year. Mr H. 0. Askew (Christchurch) is studying in London under the terms of the Dominion scholarships awarded by the Imperial College of Science and Technology. His work will he research in physical chemistry under Professor J. O. Philip, V.lt.S. The privilege of attending the meetings of a number of learned l societies is given to students of the College. During the shorter vacations Mr Askew intends to visit the nearer parts of Europe, while in the long vacation he hopes to do some work in one of the agricultural laboratories for research. Lieut. A. J. L. Whyte, Royal Engineers, a graduate of the lloyal Military College, Duntroon, and formerly of the New Zealand Staff Corps, upon completion of his course of instruction at tlie School of Military Engineering, Chatham, has been ordered to Hong Kong. . Captain G. H. Clifton, M.C., New Zealand Staff Corps, a graduate of the Royal Military College, Duntroon, and until recentlv Aide-de-Camp to the General Officer Commanding New Zealand Military Forces, has commenced liis course of instruction at the School of Military Engineering, Chatham. Capt. Clifton was attached to the Indian Saopers and_ Miners during; the Waziristan campaign, mentioned in dispatches, and awarded the Military Cl'°SS. , -1 XT Mr Hector Bolitho. previously a New Zealand journalist, who has spent the la®t vear on the headquarters staff of the Empire Exhibition, is going to Johannesburg to edit the "South African Pictorial" He is also to control the nublicitv 'for all the theatres for the African Theatre's.
