STEEL BEDROOM FURNITURE.

ARTISTIC PRODUCTIONS.

At first the idea, of having a bedroom furnished with furniture made entirely of steel is likely to be regarded with some misgiving,' especially, by those .who may recall the cumbrous and inartistic iron and br&ss ■ bedsteads which were so very fashionable about twenty or thirty years ago. These were devoid of any style ot design whatever, and made up cf lengths of iron tubing and brass bulbous knobs. The up-to-date steel furniture marks an entirely new < departure', and - the .various results achkived by the application of design combined with a welUchosen scheme of colour and decorative finish are remarkable. * It is possible to obtain models which are either copies or based on the best styles of furniture. There are samples of the dainty Louis XV. period (which style is so very suitable for the furnishing of bedrooms) of exquisite colourings, and with perforated panels of imitation cane. Also, examples cf the wheel-back pattern, as well as selected specimens of some of the choicest designs of the stately Queen Anne and classical Adams and Hepplewhite periods. The modern style is also represented with some' strikingly effective colour schemes.

Regarding the construction of this furniture the steel frames are exceedingly well made, and are painted and grained in imitation of actual woods, also in single tone colourings, with and without floral decorations.' enamel finish is applied in such a manner that ii is impossible to chip or even burn it. Also, there is no fear of the surface blistering or "sweating," as so frequently happens to furniture made cf wood. One might imagine that the weight would prove disadvantageous; this is not the case, as actually it is no more than that of wooden furniture, neither is the price. '
