Wu Pei-fu inter vis wed at Chefoo on board a transport, affirmed confidence in his ultimate victory. Ho said forty thousand of liis troops at Hankow and more at Nanking awaited his instructions. Ho now was en route accompan-' icd by four transports and three wavshipa for a southern destination, possibly Shanghai, to reassemble hia forces. He declared he would return to Peking at the head of a punitive expedition against Feng Yu-hsian and Li bumling. Wu Pci-fn's diplomatic adviser stated that Cliih Sie-hyuan, S"un Chuanfang, • Hsiaoyaonan and Tuchuns of Kiangsu Chekiang and Hupsh respectively had given assurances to Wu Peifu of their full support.
Feng Yuhsiang and Chang Tso-lin havo arrived at Tientsin for a. conference. They were accompanied by a bodyguard of soveral thousand heavily armed troops.
