ON THE LAWN AT ADDINGTON. A record crowd attended the Ne.w Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's Meeting at Addington yesterday, when the weather was good. Although the wind was somewhat chill, the racing was most exciting, and the public were obviously out for a day's-real enjoyment.

A quiet wedding took place at St. John's Presbyterian Church, Wellington, when Doris, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Whiteman, of Wellington, was married to Ronald Webber, elder surviving son of Mr and Mrs A. Cooper, South Brighton, Christchurch. The Rev. Dr. Gibb officiated, and appropriate wedding music was plstyed by the church organist, Mr Ci'W. 3erry. The bride, who. was given away by her father, wore a dainty gown of ivory satin, with overdress of tiny net" frills, edged with lace, and finished with silver and satin ribbons, arfd a'trail- pf small silver leaves. Her beautifully embroidered tulle veil was arranged with >a Russian coronet of orange blossom,, and she carried a choice shower;bouquet of white cyclamen, lily-of-the-valley,, and pale pink carnations. The . only bridesmaid, Miss Doris Rankine, wore a charming frock of shrimp-pink • satin ■ charmeuse, with touches of palest blue and silver,- and a hat of silver lace,' with underlining of pale pink georgette, trimmed with flowers and streamers of pink and bine. She also carried a-shower bouquet to tone with her frocki Mr-Frank Copper, of Hamilton, was 'the best man. -A reception was afterwards held, only intimate friends an'd . relatives being present. ' A very pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Peter 'a ; Churph, Waipawa, North Island, on Tuesday morning, October 21st, when Miss Evelyn Riddles, only daughter of Mr and Mrs JRiddles, Waipawa, was married to Mr R. Meredith, of . Ruataniwha, eldest son of Mrs Meredith, '' Tullamore,'' St.' Albans, Christchurch, and the late Mr R. Meredith, of "Waimate. The church had been beautifully decorated |by the members ,of St. Peter'i Girls' Club. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in ivory silk bengaline mousseline, draped at the side, and caught up by a pearl ornament., She* wore a beautifullyworked veil, with the usual orange blossoms, also lavender shoes, and carried a beautiful bouquet of lavender and white lilac. Miss Madge Bashier, of attended the bride,' a?d wore hyacinth blue and silver shot taffeta, with blaok' picture hat. She carried a beautiful bouquet of columbines and white lilac. The bouquets | were made by Miss Lee, who also | presided at the organ. „ She played l "The Voice that Breathed O'er Eden" as the bride entered the church, and "The- Wedding March" at the conclusion of _ the ceremony. The duties of best man were carried out 'bv Mr H. S. Rathbone, and the <jeremony was performed by the vicar, Canon Butterfield. There was a large attendance of friends "at the church, and afterwards at the schoolroom, where Mr and Mrs Riddles received their cmests, Mrs Riddles being attired, in a beautiful frock of navy-blue silk and radium lace, with hat to tone. The bride and bridegroom, received many beautiful presents, including a number of cheques.' After the reception the hanDV couple left, amidst showers of confetti, for a motor tour of the South Island.
