Hu v.-as taiken out to tho Mabana about 11 o'clock, but there 13 a probability 'that the matter will not end in his return. Tho departure of the vessel for Lytt-eiton at present is. indefinite. The deadlock was considered at a stopwork meeting of the Seamen's Union this morning, and,, after a, discussion of the facts »3 before the Union and the alleged action of tie employing authorities in attempting to despatch "tho ve3sel shorth&nded, tho meeting adopted a reeo'ution to tho effect that, in (ho went of tha crew, or any portion cf tho crow, being imprisoned, tho Tjmon should declare the ship "black," and that do memixT of tho organisation should ba permitted to join her. Further, that tho Seamen's Union, if need be, would render every possible assistance to the men. THE S.S. PROGRESS. ■When the a.a. Tho ship o& that particular trip had visited Waikato Heads and put into Hokianga. Heads for shelter, the* worked AVhangapo and Tarakohc, and then Lyttelton. Tho vessel left her last port where provisions could be obtained, namely, Now Plymouth, on September 22nd, and arrived in Lyttelton on October Ist, «• period of eight days. The fresh meat did not keep this length of time, and for two days tho crew had preserved meats, of which there is a stock always carried on board. In addition to this, wo understand the only shortage or complaint was that tho men did not have cheeeo nor jam."
