BUILDERS' ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the Canterbury Builders' Association was'held' feat njght, Mr J. Graham presiding over n- good attendance. Referring to the- use of a, scaffold stirrup irou which-is advocated by the .Labour Department's chief scaffolding inspector, the chairman stated that recently, accompanied, by several other Christehnrch builders, lie had inspected a, scaffold in which the irons had been used in place of ropes. They hud come to the conclusion that the stirrup waa much superior as a binding to ropes, and was to be nreferred in almost every case. The Chrifltchurch Bricklayers' Association wrote statins: that that body had decided to fall in with" the builderc" suggestion to appoint three representatives to an Apprenticeship Committee. It waa decided to ask the Apprenticeship Sub-Committee to meet the bricklayers as soon as possible. It was decided to appoint Messrs G. Jamieson and .T. A. Mander examiners in' woodwork at the Christchurch Technical College.
