RENDEZVOUS CABARET
Carnival spirit reigned supreme last erenins," when the chairman ana directors of the Rendezvous held their opening night by entertaining a large number of people at a , cabaret dance. It was anticipated that the I opening function would be a- charming one, , but the reality far exceeded expectations, j The first thing that struck the eye upon I entering the ballroom was the pretty glow ■which wßs cast upon the dancers. This I lighting effect was" achieved by numerous j vari-colcured lamps arranged at intervals j around the room. Interwoven to form an , overhead canopy were streamers of brilliani i hues and clusters cf gai.y coloured balloons J were' suspended from the ceiling. The dar!; nanelling* of the walls was a most attractive . background to the many pretty frocis. The ; supper-rcom wa3 a p.easing eight with its i flower-decked and well-set table 3. The j Mayor (Mr J. A. Flesher), who was intro- ! duced by Mr G. L. Berry, in opening the j cabaret thanked this directors for the entertainment and wished them every success in ! their venture. Three cheers were v'ven for I Mr and Mrs Flesher. Bailey's Band &v\>- ! plied the music, and extras were play.d by j the United Service Orchestra.
