SYDNEY CIVIC SCANDAL.

(BY CABLE— PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPTBIOHT) (AUSTRALIAN AND S.I. CABLE AB9OCIATIUH.) (Received November 4th, 8.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, November 4. At the Cropley enquiry, Cropley was severely cross-examined with regard to giving his original statement containing allegations against Aldermen to the Press. In reply to a question as to how much one paper offered him for the story, Cropley indignantly said: " Nothing!" In reply to a further question, Cropley said he had never been approached by any member of the Labour Party in the City Council. He also said he would not have made his statements in the Press if he had not been attacked by one Alderman in a Council meeting.
