LANCASHIRE DISASTER. TWELVE PERSONS KILLED. (BT CABLE-STRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT) (REUTERS TELEGRAMS.' (Received November 4th, 8.40 p.m.) LONDON. November 3. Twelve persons were killed through the derailment of a Liverpool-Black-pool express at Lytham. Manv passengers were pinned under the wreckage. and heartrending scenes were witnessed while efforts were being made to extricate them. The alarm was increasd by a coach fcikine fire, but a fire bri-ade averted the danger. Many prominent Lancashiie business men were involved. BODIES RECOVERED. ENGINE-DRIVER KILLED. (AUSTRALIA* AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received 4th. 10.30 p.m.) LONDON. November 3. Five books rr-ovorerl from the Lytham train wreck have been identified, inr-hidinc two Meters and the enginedriver. 'Three others arc still buried beneath the wreckage, and 12 more persons wore injured. One report says the Occident was due to an axle breaking. Thousands of people gathered at the spot, although it was midnight. _ _ Motorists, hearing the news, joined in rescue work. \ woman passenger remarked to her daughter that if the train kept up that snecd they would be home before time. "Sh" had no sooner spoken than there came a sudden jerking, and she wasflung across the compartment. Manaoincr to escape through a window, she saw "the back of the train burst into 11 times. Others state the speed of the train when wrecked was -10 miles an hour. The train following was pulled up close to the wreck.
