In accordance with tho decision readied at Saturday's meeting, no members of tho Waterside Workers' Federation commenced work on the wharves "before eight o'clock this morning. Few vessels, however, are so far affected by this overtime strike On all overseas boats other than the Commonwealth Line, the Canadian Mercantile > Marine, and Witehire's Japanese lines, i work went on as 'usual, the men working right through from their previous shifts. Tho Committee of Management of the Waterside Workers' Federation, which is the governing control for Australia, resolved to suspend Melbourne branches for deciding at Saturday'* meeting not to participate in the overtime strike. The secretary of the Federation telegraphed to brandies throughout the ' Commonwealth informing them that the policy adopted at tho recent Sydney conference would bo strictly adbored to. It is stated that tho Melbourne branches are tho only ones that have ignored the Federal body out of » total of 62 branches. NO WORK AFTER FIVE. MELBOURNE MEN UNPOPULAR. {AUSTRALIAN ANO V.S. A meeting of representatives of the transport group of unions adopted a resolution condemning; the action of the Melbourne watersiders in refusing to obey the decision of the Waterside Conference. It was further resolved to notify the i transport workers in Melbourne that J all work after 5 o'clock against the) principle of unionism.
