Tlie Cork Corporation appointed a commissioner to conduct the administration following a Government enqiri:y into the administration of the city's affairs. DE VALERA GAOLED. TRESPASSING IN ULSTER. .(reuter's telegrams.) (Received November 2nd, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, November 1. De Valera, at Belfast, was sentenced to • one month's imprisonment in the second division for altering North Ireland in contravention of the Government order. The prosecutor said the order of the Home Secretary, made under the Civil Authorities Powers Act, was served on Do Valera on October 2oth at Adavoyle railway station, prohibiting him from entering polling areas in North Ireland, but De Valera was seen tho following evening and arrested. De Valera declined to plead, not recognising the authority of the Court, which he declared was a creature of a foreign Power and therefore not sanctioned by the Irish people. The Resident Magistrate said he was unable to allow a political speech* which was a. mere cloak for contempt of court.
