FIRE AT NORTH BEACH.
TWO SHOPS DESTROYED. Two shops on Bowhili road. North New Brighton, were razed io the "round by nre at an early hour this monnnLT. The property was owned l>y Mr K. A. M. Leaver, who occupied one of tin" shops in which lie carried on business as a land agent and tailor. The other --hop was «>ccupiod by Mr E. jiush. who, besides carrying on business as a bootmaker and stationer, was ::Lso local jiostmastor. The alarm was o-iven at PMS. a.m., but bv ilio time tlie New Brighton Fire Brigade arrived on the seene the flames had a hold on the wooden buildings, and nothing could- bo done to save them. On either there were houses in close proximity, and had a wind l>cen blowing nothing could hare saved them. The insurances were not- available last i-jiu'ln.
