REMOVAL OF TEACHERS.
(special to "ike pkxss.") WELLINGTON, November .1. The clause inserted by the Legislative Council in the Education Bill designed to prevent the too frequent removal of tc-a-jhers from position to position, was disagreed with by the House of Representatives this morning. The Minister of Education (the Hon. G. J. Parr) said the provision at present was that a, teacher must be a year in a position before he could be removed. The clause iras making an extension to practically two years. Mr P. A. de la Perrello said he thought the Minister she-nhl allow tho clause to remain. Mr Parr said there was considerable merit in the clause., but the Teachers' Institute was opposing it, and, in his opinion, it should bo postponed for further consideration at a conference. If the system could not be remedied in some way lie proposed to give the House an opportunity next session to express an opinion on the matter. Messrs Parr, de la Perrelle, and A. L. Monteith were appointed a committee to prepare reasons for disagreeing with the amendment.
