OBITUARY.
FRANCES HODGSON BURNETT. (reuteb's telegrams.) (Received October 31st, 11.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, October 30-. The dentil is announced of Frances Hodgson Burnett, the well-known novelist. [Mrs Francos Hodgson Burnett was born in Manchester in 1849. and went ■with her j>arents to Knoxville, Tennessee, U.S.A., in 1860. She married Dr. Burnett, of Washington, in 1873, but divorced him in IS9S, and two years later ma,rried Stephen Towncseml, who died in 1914. She began to publish in 1807, and her name began to be known with "That Lass o' Lowrie's" in "'Scribner's Magazine" and in book form in 1877. One of tlie best known oi her many wor?;s is "Little Lord Fauntlerov.'' She was also the writer of several plays, the mast successful of wliich was "Esmeralda," which ran lor three years iu Auieica.]
