t WINNING NUMBERS. Tho drawing of the art union, held in connexion with Navy Day by the Canterbury • Branch oi the Navy League, took place in the Navy League Hall last night. The president (Mr J. J. Dougall), vice-president (Mr W. Walton), the secretary (Mr C. J. Treleaven) of the branch, and a number of lady members, were present. Sergeant Petersen represented the police. There worn seven prizes, and by a curious coincidence the first and 6eventh prizes, were won byMr James O Malley, of B:aley avenue, who is well known to travellers to and from the West Coast, as having been- the licensee of the Bealey and Oura Hotels. Following is the result of the drawing: First prize, alluvial gold valued at £SO, ticket No. 6180 —Mr James O'Malley, Bealey ■ , avenue. Second prize, painting by Menzies Gibb, ' valued at £lO 10s, ticket No. 6208—Joan j S. Omerod, 64 St raven road. Third prize, painting by lira Baird Fri- , berg, valued at £lO 10s, ticket No. 7168 TV. Ross Smith, Cheviot. Fourth prize, painting by R. Wallwork, valued at £S Ss, licket No. 3977—C. E. Wilson, 111 Hereford street. Fifth prize, painting by A. F. Nicoll, valued at £6 Cs, ticket No. 4025 E. Oarkson, 31 Papanui road. Sixth prize, painting by Mrs R. McKenzie, valued at £5 ss. ticket No. 7413—Mrs W. Walton. I Seventh prize, Sir Walter Scott's works I (27 volumes!, valued at £4, ticket No. 6173—Mr James O'Malley, Bsaley avenue. The result of the drawing for the pewter bowl was: Ticket No. 111-I—Hiss E. Fleurty, Cheviot. The drawing for the art cushion resulted: Ticket No. 1434 —Mrs A. E. Butcher, 422 Manchester street.
