TUB RABBIT QUESTION.
TO THI EDITOR OF "THE TBESR." Sir,—ln answer to Mr Campbell's letter in your issue of th© 28th insL, in 0110 sentence bo states I must be very ignorant; in the nost bo rather flatters me bj saying I "managed" to get a resolution passed stating that ''this meeting is satisfied that tbo petitipn signed by the ratepayers as identical with one presented to the Minister in Wellington." Now as thero were between sixty and seventy present, and, with the exception of Mr Ompbell and bis friend, all voted in favour of the resolution, 1 think your correspondent gives mo credit for rather much infill en >o. I. deny that Mr Campbell asked me for a copy of tho petition. The secretary had one on his table had i\, been aisked for. To sum the matter up, Mr Campbell believes in a comprehensive fencing scheme a.ud the ratepayers generally are opposed to it, hence Mr Campbell's worries.—Yours, etc.,
J. H. L. HIATT. Domett, Oct. 20th.
