Kxjjorts consider the prospects excellent.-, and that the high prices ruling for all grades at the. i:iul of last season should at least be maintained. Many grov.em are applying to th<* brokers to have their wool 01-.i.ssed. which should result in higher prices. REAL ESTATE. OTAGO INSTITUTE. (special to "the press.") DUXEDLV, October 3.1. The annual report of the Real Estate Institute of Ota-go says values for city and suburban properties remain very firm and, generally spooking, are somewhat higher thnn they were twelve months ago. A considerable amount of residential building is in progress, also buildings for business and 'factory purposes. There is still a good demand tor vacant sites. The tightness of the money market has hampered business, to some extent. When we realise thai> the difficulties of exchange have made' the money market tight, and in addition that the Dunedin City Corporation raised in new loans .C 162.000 (nearly all subscribed in Dtrnedin) in the space, oi' twelve months, the volume of business done in real estate bears glowing testimony to the financial stability of this city. The house shortage * has forced many buyers on the market before, 'they would otherwise, have thought of buying, and as the lunoimt of money at their command has been small, the difficulties of finance have been accentuated. LONDON MARKET REPORT. " ———— ~ r (yaosi oim own correspondekt.) LONDON, September 26., Messrs Henry S. Fitter and Sons report ■(hat the present high prices now ruling for almost all descriptions of moat have had a considerable effect on the demand, -which has been greatly reduced. The weather, too, has been against trade, as it lias been veiy mild and dull. Over the week-end, however, it has turned cooler and ehowa signs of improvement. There lias not been a very good demand for frozen beef, but, as supplies have been ehort, prices have remained steadv. It is generally anticipated that shipments of chillfd beef will bo rather lighter between now and Christmas; should this happen, the prospects for better Xew Zealand prices are n:oro hopeful. The position of the New Zealand lamb market remains about the same, only very small quantities being now on offer, while there is little difference between the prices of first and second grades. Heavy Jambs are easier to obtain, but prices are being maintained. It is only by reason of the very short supplies that the market has been kept at its present level, for the demand has been cat down considerably. There is still a fair demand for New Zealand wethers, and prices have hardened somewhat, .supplies of light weights being more plentiful than heavy. Ewes during the middle period showed a tendency to weaken, but hive now recovered with the increased demand, which is probably due to the higher prices ruling for other classes of meat. The demand for pork continues to bo satisfactory, sad small pigs have made good prices. A few froaen pigs that made their appearance sold well, /as much ae 9d per lb being obtained for the beet.
