MEETING OF RESIDENTS. At a meeting convened to discuss .ways and maaja oi improving the Stavcley Hall, Mr J. T. H. Sharpliu, E. B. Coopei-, 1). fciyme, A. Mc,N"eil, it. limbic, J. Stevens and G. Goldsmith, arid opened in 1894. The- seven members took up shares and aa provisional directors formed* a company. At a late meeting oi shareholders ilessrs D. Syme, J. Stevens iind G. Goldsmith were appointed trustees. The hill was built ty Mr Itanisuy. l>urin£ the first years,, owing to tbe number of workmen in the district at the sawmills, and to few repairs being necessary, the hall paid its way, but in later years tho expenses had exceeded the receipts.
